From entry into school, the children begin to learn the elements of geographical study. As they pass through school, they study a variety of environments, including the school, the local environment, a contrasting UK environment and an environment elsewhere in the world. Each of these is planned into the school’s geography scheme. During these studies, they are taught the knowledge and skills detailed in the National Curriculum. Educational visits are also used extensively to give the children real geographical experiences.
Year 5 had recently had a residential trip to Castleton where they studied the local geography.
